VACCINATION & MICROCHIPPING
Pet vaccines help prevent many illnesses and are an essential part of preventive care. Vaccinating your pets has been considered one of the primary ways to help them live happily and have a healthy life. Vaccinations protect your pet from several highly contagious diseases such as canine distemper, parvovirus, and respiratory tract infections. Vaccinating your pets also protects them against transmissible diseases such as rabies that pose a risk to humans; many of these diseases pose serious health risks to your pet should they be exposed.
We understand that getting your pet to a clinic for his vaccination visits could be stressful for both of you; thus, we made sure that we provide a stress-free environment and an excellent vaccination service not just here in Dubai but in most parts of UAE.
Why is it important to vaccinate my pet?
Often, there is no complete cure for life-threatening diseases such as distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and cat “flu.” Thus, vaccination is the only proven method of protecting against specific diseases your pet might be at risk of contracting. Vaccines work by introducing modified infectious organisms into your pet’s bloodstream, which stimulates the immune system and prepares the body to fight off disease without actually making them sick. Here in the UAE, it is mandatory to have your pets vaccinated, especially against rabies.
Why is it mandatory?
In Dubai alone, pet vaccinations ARE mandatory and should be done yearly. In addition, Dubai has a strict protocol for pet registration with the Dubai Municipality, especially with dogs and cats that are given a municipality tag annually. Here at The City Vet Clinic, your pets can get professional help for their vaccinations and municipality registration.
Understanding Pet Vaccines
Vaccines for pets are divided into two main categories: core and non-core vaccines. Core vaccines are essential to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Non-core vaccines may be considered optional, mainly depending on your pet’s risk of exposure to a particular disease. Your friendly veterinarians at The City Vet Clinic are happy to discuss the vaccination protocol in Dubai and according to your pet’s needs.

PET VACCINATIONS HELP REDUCE VET BILLS
In nearly every case in a veterinary clinic, prevention is by far less expensive than treating a pet’s medical condition. Therefore, it is true when it comes to their vaccinations. Treating your pet for parvovirus, for example, could require extensive treatment and additional costs for hospitalization and medication. However, following a regular vaccination can prevent common medical illnesses from happening, saving you for expenses and making you stress-free. Check our complete guide to pet vaccinations here.
MICROCHIPPING
A microchip is a tiny chip with the size of a grain of rice and is inserted under the skin of your furry friend. Each chip contains a unique identification code, either in letters and numbers or a series of 15-digit unique numbers. Microchips do not have GPS technology. Here in the UAE, almost all veterinary practices follow the international standards for microchip insertion, that is, to insert microchips that do not contain any information except the unique codes for contact tracing and identification.
Is it mandatory for my pet to be microchipped?
Microchipping of a pet, especially for dogs and cats, is compulsory by UAE Law. In Dubai, a pet cannot be registered with the municipality unless done otherwise. Moreover, it is one of the basic requirements for all pets traveling abroad. Microchipping is always done before rabies vaccination following the international pet travel scheme and by the UAE government.
How can I use the microchip if ever my pet gets lost?
The microchip number is linked to the clinic database and municipality portal for Dubai pet owners. Once your pet gets lost and taken to the nearest veterinary clinic, the clinic representative will scan it for microchip reading. Other clinics will be alerted to check where the found pet is registered and trace the owner to be reunited.
