Dr. Tatiana Cavero, DVM
Graduated in 2003 for the Veterinary School in Lima, Peru. She started off her career working on the critical endangered White-winged guan recovery program as well as with Neotropical raptors and doing research on emerging infectious diseases in free-ranging animal populations.
After equalization of the Spanish degree in 2008 she worked in small animal practice and later collaborated with the Iberian lynx captive breeding project in Doñana National Park.
In 2010 she moved to the UAE as Veterinary Manager for the National Avian Research Centre, focusing in the Asian houbara bustard conservation project, and then was appointed to Al Ain Zoo, where she worked on the many different arid land species there.
Her main interests are internal medicine, infectious, emerging and zoonotic diseases, birds, felids and reptiles, all linked through the view of conservation medicine and animal welfare.
She is passionate about the wild, enjoying traveling, hiking, diving, photographing and discovering the world’s peoples, cultures and arts.
In her day offs she likes gardening, enjoying books, cooking for friends, doing yoga or camping in the desert in UAE.
